Torri stepped out the car and started to shake and yelled at Draco, “You brought me here, to the apartment where he attacked me and you call this a date.”
Draco just stared at her until she stopped talking, “Have you finished yelling at me now? I brought you here to show you something.” He held out his hand but she wouldn’t take it so he just grabbed her hand and forced her to walk with him.
They walked through the big iron gates and down the path when Draco stopped, “This is what I wanted to show you. The apartment is for sale because I knew you wouldn’t want to come back here after what happened.”
Torri turned to him, “I’m sorry I yelled at you and thank you.” Draco smiled and replied, “Now let’s go eat I’m starving.”
Torri’s first instinct was to yell at Draco when they pulled up to his parents’ home but after he had put the apartment on the market she didn’t have the heart so waited for Draco to say something.
As he put his arm around her he said softly, “I know, I know the parents’ house but we don’t have a place of our own yet so I told them to make themselves scarce.” Torri smiled but before she could say anything else he added, “Katherine is at Guy’s tonight,”
Draco offered Torri a drink and said, “I know I said it when I picked you up but you look amazing.” Torri blushed as she sat down, “The table looks great, what are you cooking?” Draco looked at her shamefully, “I tried cooking but I burnt the food so Mum had to rescue me.” Torri laughed, “At least you admitted that you messed up but it does smell great so let’s try the food.”
Draco brought in the food and they sat staring at each other while they ate. Torri then asked, “Since this is a date when do I get a kiss?” He leaned in slightly and said, “Would you like to dance?” Torri was shocked at the gesture but accepted his hand.
He switched on the music and pulled her close and whispered in her ear, “You mean the world to me.” Torri was lost for words as she let Draco guide her.
She rest her head on his shoulders for a few moments then said, “I thought you only knew nightclub dancing.” Draco smiled then again whispered in her ear, “I did but I wanted this to be a special moment so I took lessons.” Torri now looked at him, “Who taught you to dance?”
“My Dad but he doesn’t like people to know he has a soft side or that he can dance.” They kept eye contact and Torri asked, “Why is does this need to be special?”
“You have been through so much and we have as a couple. The weekend we spent together I had made up my mind but then you went missing and the baby,” Torri was looking confused as Draco continued. “When I tried to talk to you and you ran crying, I decided to talk to Lawrence instead. I never knew he had plans to propose to Gran…”
“Draco you are acting nervous and rambling.” Draco took a breath and said, “I asked him if I could have your hand in marriage,” Torri stumbled backwards but Draco caught her.
She sat down and watched as Draco got down on one knee, “Torri Robertson, will you be my wife?”
Torri looked at the ring then at Draco then back at the ring. When he said a date then it was to be a special night, she never dreamed he had planned this.
She looked at the ring once more then she smiled at Draco, “I love you so much of course I’ll marry you.”
He put the ring on her finger and Torri leaped into his arms. “Draco I’m so happy. I guess we should tell Uncle Lawrence.”
He stroked her cheek and said sweetly, “We will tell him when I take you home in a bit.”
Lawrence was working when Daphne walked in, “Can we talk?” He stopped what he was doing and looked at her, “Daph, are you ok? What’s wrong?” She took his hand and led him to the fireplace, he noticed the fire was lit and wine. He knew something was wrong.
Lawrence took a seat and Daphne put her head on his lap and he finally said, “You have my undivided attention now what is wrong?” Daphne looked into his eyes and softly asked, “Will you come to Dr Baines office tomorrow at two with me?”
“Are you sick?” Daphne smiled, “Not yet.” Lawrence was an intelligent man but he wasn’t getting the hint. “If you’re not sick please tell me so I can help.” Daphne kept a smile on her face and said, “Would you help me get pregnant?” Lawrence was in shock and asked carefully, “Are you expecting because and please be honest with me, if you are we haven’t had sex yet.”
Daphne sat up, “Darling Lawrence I love you, I’m asking if you want us to have a baby once we are married.” Lawrence sat there in shock and said within seconds, “You want us to have a baby?”
“I thought that you would like a child of your own but if…”
Lawrence quickly kissed her, “You would do that for me?” Daphne smiled, “Of course, I love you.”
“Then I’ll go to the appointment, do I need to bring anything?” Daphne laughed, “We aren’t even pregnant yet and already you are losing your mind but just get us to the appointment.” Lawrence smiled at her and sweetly said, “Consider it done.”
When Torri walked in Lawrence could see her beaming smile and said, “I take it your date went well?” Torri burst with excitement and hugged her uncle, “Draco and I are engaged.”
“Congratulations to both of you.” Daphne smiled and said, “Congratulations, I’m pleased for both of you.” Then she guided Torri towards the kitchen and asked, “Tell me how my grandson proposed.” Torri started to tell her how it lead up to him proposing and that she had no idea.
Once the door closed Lawrence said, “Have you found a place to live yet?”
“Yes and I hope Torri likes it. It’s not too far from her work…”
“And what about your work?” Draco sighed, “I knew you would start on me. Look I passed my exam but I was looking for the woman I love.”
“I remember but what does the pass now mean for your prospects?”
Draco leaned back in the chair and said, “It means I can now go out into the field and train with my mum.” Lawrence smiled and replied, “Good because you need to support her when she is carrying your child.”
Draco snapped back, “I love her and believe me when I say when the time comes if I have to end up working for my Dad and uncle to support my family then I will.” Lawrence smiled and simply replied, “Right answer Draco.”
